Wayne replaced the doors in my house, the job presented a few challenges with wonky frames but Wayne was able to build out the existing frames to create a good fit. He also closed in my staircase with a wall and dog door.
He was considerate of my working from home and kept mess to a minimum.
Would highly recommend as the final results are perfect. Wayne was very helpful and great at giving advice. Also explained how to do some tasks for myself and the benefits of using specific materials/methods.
Will be using Wayne for future projects.
Barn Owl Carpentry recently installed a bespoke, fitted, ‘apron’ (over the door) bookcase for us and we are thrilled with the result. Our late 18th century Lodge presented quite a challenge with not a plumb wall or floor in the house.
Wayne’s considerable skill was most certainly needed to work out the adjustments necessary to achieve a perfectly symmetrical shelving unit and he pulled it off. We would most happily recommend Wayne for any carpentry work needing a high degree of knowledge and professional expertise.

Wayne carried out two jobs for us. Firstly he repaired and fitted an original 1930’s wooden front door which was too big for the door frame. As requested he skillfully reduced the 32″ door to fit into the 30″ frame which required using an electric planer and dowels to strengthen the door. He also fitted new hinges, a deadlock and Yale lock. He had to be very careful when handling the door as it had the original stained glass in situ.
The second job was remedial work to our old wooden front porch. This involved removing the rotten wood from the bottom of the doors and frame and fitting new wood, which he planed to match the original design. The old and new woods were joined together almost seamlessly. He also fitted a new mahogany threshold, locking door handle set and a letter box.
Wayne has over 30 year’s experience as a carpenter, cabinet maker and joiner, this experience shines through in his work, his attention to detail and determination to get it done right is the mark of a true craftsman. Thank you for your time and excellent work Wayne, it was a pleasure to meet you and we hope you’ll be back soon to make us a new electric meter cupboard!!

Wayne came out to install a new banister for us and he kept to his work and time schedule. Wayne is tidy and a good man and would highly recommend his services. he’s very knowledgeable and is happy to teach you things about carpentry. We have some more jobs coming and can’t wait to see them posted on here showing Wayne’s hard work and attention to detail.

Wayne was friendly and professional, and kept us informed about every stage of the work, giving us a chance to amend our plans as needed, and also providing us with ideas for what could be done too, with no pressure at all. We hope to use them again!
My daughter recently moved into her first house and her first job was to have a new bannister and spindles fitted from downstairs to upstairs and to replace the old bannister and spindles on the landing. Wayne came round to provide us with a quotation and was very polite and professional in his approach highlighting all of the difficulties beforehand, and there were a few. In addition to this he also provided a quotation for building an understairs cupboard.
Wayne’s quotation was fair and he came to do the work on the date as promised. As my daughter was at work throughout the time Wayne was at the house, i decided to be there to open up and answer any questions. The work was completed in under two weeks and it was the most enjoyable two weeks i’ve had in a while observing Wayne at his work, his attention to detail is something else and his workmanship is excellent. Wayne is easy to talk to and we had numerous conversations during coffee breaks. I would not hesitate to have Wayne in my house, or my daughters house again.
Another job has come up in my daughters house and we didn’t hesitate in asking Wayne to provide us with a quotation. I look forward to seeing you at the house again.

We Barn Owl Carpentry to fit new door casings, architrave, and oak doors around our house. Wayne gave us a price and estimated completion time which we were happy with, and even though the job was more complicated than first thought, the job has been completed to a very high standard. We would definitely use Barn Owl Carpentry again in future.
Wayne is a gifted carpenter and joiner who has meticulously high standards and attention to detail. The wardrobe he built for us was complicated by uneven 300 year old walls and floors but no compromises were made. He is also very amenable and considerate, and
tidies up at the end of each day. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Wayne again and would highly recommend him.

Wayne is one the most pleasant and professional tradesmen i’ve seen in this country – what a pleasure to deal with. Granted, i had to wait quite a while before he became available, but that only tells you all you need to know – man is extremely busy, which is a clear indication that he does something right.
Came to give a quote when promised, accommodated my needs of a busy working person, charges what he says at the beginning and always keeps you updated on what is happening. the wardrobe itself doesn’t need to be described, let’s put it this way – it turned up much more awkward than it was initially planned (like it always does, right?). a lot of wires, pipes and cavities in the walls. Overcame that all and now i have a wardrobe, which i am extremely happy about.
Would highly recommend to anyone planning a usage of some dodgy spaces in their house. Will most likely hire again, if i’ll think of something else

Thanks to Wayne at Barn Owl Carpentry of Chester for fitting our mantel shelf. It was a very heavy piece and a tricky job to fit with corbels as well. He has made a very good job and we are delighted with the result.
While refurbishing upstairs we required 2 new heavy doors to be fitted for bedroom and bathroom. Wayne called around immediately to offer a quote and fitted them expertly just a few days later.
Even though this may not have been a big job for him, he took so much care in his work, offering his advice on the varnish finish as he left.
